Long known for its epic skiing, Hickory is becoming a destination for hiking to the peaks of the 3 Sisters Range and its challenging 18-hole disc golf course (skihickory.com/discgolf). With no snowmaking and the impact of climate change weather patterns shifting to warmer winters and less snowfall, the ski area is adapting its programming to increase offerings in the shoulder and summer months.
Hickory, with funding from NYS Family and Children’s Services and sponsored by MVP Disc Golf, is offering a youth disc golf clinic July 7-11, 5:30-7:30 ages 10-15 with professional golfer Greg Hill as the clinic instructor. Youth will receive a t-shirt, a set of 3 discs and free access to league play on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 beginning July 16th. Scholarships are available. League play is open to all ages. Registration for the clinic is available at skihickory.com/disc-golf-clinic. Space is limited so early registration is suggested.
